The European vibration directive--how will it affect the dental profession?Mansfield NJ Department of Human Sciences, Loughborough University, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 3TU. n.j.mansfield@lboro.ac.uk On 6 July 2005, the EU Physical Agents (Vibration) Directive (2002) came into force across all member states. This will mean that legally enforceable limits on hand-arm vibration exposures will be introduced and that risk management must be set in place at work. This article briefly describes the content of the Directive, how this will affect the dental profession and what measures will be required to ensure compliance.
